MEALS ON WHEELS

V-38-0263_edited.jpg

The Mission of the Grace Presbyterian Meals on Wheels program is to provide nutritious meals to the elderly, disabled and homebound.

In 2022 we served 25 recipients, while this year we currently serve no more than 20 individuals due to staffing issues and food prices.  Each recipient receives a hot meal and a cold pack each Tuesday. The hot meal provides approximately 6-8 oz of protein, a total of 1 cup of vegetables and a starch (rice, pasta, or potatoes). It will provide two meals. The cold pack contains a bread, 2 cartons of milk, 2 pieces of fruit, a green salad, 2 desserts, and a frozen casserole — this is enough for two meals. In the winter a soup and cornbread is provided.

Occasionally we struggle with volunteers in this ministry, so if you are interested in helping, please contact us!  We have a volunteer staff for cooking/cold packing teams; salad makers; soup maker; frozen casserole teams; cornbread makers; cake/cookie makers; rotating milk delivery teams who pick up milk in Belton and bring to the church each month, and we have drivers who deliver the meals every Tuesday during the month. All of our cooks and drivers are committed to the program and have a good relationship with the recipients, and they will keep going as long as the need is there.

“As members of Grace, we are called to be God’s heart, hands,
and voice as we engage as servants of Jesus Christ
by reaching out to the community
beyond our walls to meet human need.”
